#48 Eclectic & Luxe Winter Wedding

Our Brides – Marianna

“Take some time to think about what you like most about your body before going in and ensure that whatever part that is, the dress is showcasing it. Embrace your imperfections!”

THE LOW-DOWN

How would you sum up the style of your wedding?

We wanted the style of the wedding to be eclectic and luxe and we hoped we achieved that in our choices for the day.

Where and when did you tie the knot?

The ceremony was at Cutlers Hall and the reception was at The Mowbray.

And what was your wedding dress?

Fernley by Charlie Brear.

THE LEAD UP

How did you two first meet?

At a mutual friend’s birthday party, playing Mario Kart.

What about the proposal? When, where, how?

Chris proposed where we had our first date at Sheffield Comedy Club to the song Sit Down by James. We then went to The Grapes as we did on our first date.

THE DRESS

Did you have an idea of what you wanted when you first started looking for your wedding dress? And did you stick to it?

Yes, I went to Alexandra Anne because they were the closest stockist of Charlie Brear. I didn’t know exactly what gown I wanted but I had an idea and Jess helped me find what I was looking for.

How did you find the whole experience of searching for the right dress?

Because of the pandemic, I wasn’t able to have all of my bridesmaids with me but it was an experience I got to share with my mum and it was lovely. I booked a VIP experience and it made the afternoon so much fun and really special.

What was it about your dress that made it ‘the one’?

Its simplicity and elegance.

How did you feel once you’d made the big decision?

I was really excited but as time went on and I hadn’t tried the dress on for a while, I started doubting my decision. Once it was all altered, I knew I had made the right choice.

Do you have any top tips for other brides out there shopping for their bridal gown?

Maybe take some time to think about what you like most about your body before going in and ensure that whatever part that is, the dress is showcasing it. Embrace your imperfections!

THE BIG DAY

Tell us more about your outfit on the day. How did you complete your look?

I completed the look with a gold belt and back necklace. I also sought out a vintage hair specialist who also made the hair piece.

And your bridesmaids?

I had 6 bridesmaids, they chose their own dresses in whatever colour they felt most comfortable wearing. They all looked beautiful. I styled my flowers on their colour choices.

What do you remember about the morning?

I remember feeling really nervous that one of the suppliers wasn’t going to be able to make it but once I knew everyone was there, I relaxed. I remember feeling really calm.

Who did your hair and makeup?

My hair was done by Sarah at Pinup Curl and my makeup was done by Natasha Lyons

Who took your wedding photos?

Ellie Grace Photography.

Did you follow any traditions? Or was there anything unusual about the ceremony?

My brother walked my mum down the aisle before me. We also had a sing a long during the ceremony in place of a hymn which was Sit Down by James (the song Chris proposed to me to).

How did your dress feel when you were walking down the aisle?

My dress was so comfortable and yet also so elegant. I felt really good in it.

THE MEMORIES

What are your favourite memories of your wedding day?

My favourite memories were seeing everyone hugging and dancing.

What gave you the biggest laugh?

I can’t really remember but I remember laughing all day.

What got the tears flowing?

Saying goodbye to everyone, we were emigrating to Australia the following week.

ADVICE FOR BRIDES-TO-BE

If there was one piece of advice you could give to a new bride-to-be, what would it be?

The day goes so quickly, try and enjoy the build-up.

And last but not least, where is your wedding dress now?

The dress is clean and packed away at my mum’s house.
