#19 The Other Will and Kate
Our Brides – Kate
Back when I lived in Macc (as the cool kids call Macclesfield), I loved a wander around the magnificent Arighi Bianchi interiors store. There’s a beautiful florist concession there called The Flower House, and lo and behold the last time I was in there whose faces should I see on their noticeboard but Will and Kate?
No, no, not THAT Will and Kate. But my very own Cheshire version, showing off some English church-wedding class meets French Provence chic. Plus their reception was at Adlington Hall, just up the road from the Swizzels factory where we get our Alexandra Anne Love Hearts made!
Congrats Will and Kate! You’ll always be royals to me 😉

THE LOW-DOWN
How would you sum up the style of your wedding?
English countryside meets Provence countryside. Relaxed.
Where and when did you tie the knot?
St Christopher’s Church in Pott Shrigley, Cheshire, on 26th May 2019.
And what was your wedding dress?
Jesus Peiro 7023.
THE LEAD-UP
How did you two first meet?
We met while doing teacher training at York University.
What about the proposal? When, where, how?
In Provence in the south of France, in a beautiful secluded spot in the countryside surrounded by vineyards!
THE DRESS
Did you have an idea of what you wanted when you first started looking for your wedding dress? And did you stick to it?
Yes, I was convinced I wanted lace! But the dress I finally decided on had absolutely no lace... Very classic but so beautiful!
How did you find the whole experience of searching for the right dress?
I loved being able to try on lots of gorgeous dresses but I’m very indecisive, so it was quite tricky… and I loved so many of the dresses I tried on!
What was it about your dress that made it ‘the one’?
I loved it and felt great in it but it was my mum, sister, mother-in-law and bridesmaid’s reaction that really made up my mind – it was definitely their fave!
How did you feel once you’d made the big decision?
Great – never looked back!
Do you have any top tips for other brides out there shopping for their bridal gown?
Just to be open-minded and try a whole spectrum of different styles and materials – you might be surprised at what you fall in love with!
THE BIG DAY
Tell us more about your outfit on the day. How did you complete your look?
I chose a beautiful Joyce Jackson Pescara veil with some delicate embroidery and a blusher.
My shoes were lace, peep-toe (I had to get some lace in somewhere!).
For jewellery I wore pearl earrings (a present from my husband on the morning of the wedding), a pearl bracelet I borrowed from my mum, an antique ring which belonged to my great grandmother, a leaf / vine-style hairpiece, and a plain Charlie Brear crepe sash tied in a simple knot at the back.
In the evening, I swapped my sash for a super sparkly evening belt!
And your bridesmaids?
All in slightly different shades of blue/grey but the same style. The dresses were from Dessy and quite informal in style.
What do you remember about the morning?
I loved getting ready with all my beautiful bridesmaids and mum and dad in my childhood home. The atmosphere was really relaxed except the last half hour which was a bit of a rush!
Who did your hair and makeup?
Jenn Edwards & Co. – they were amazing!
Who took your wedding photos?
Did you follow any traditions? Or was there anything unusual about the ceremony?
It was a very traditional English church wedding. What made it a little unusual is that Will’s mum conducted the service!
How did your dress feel when you were walking down the aisle?
Amazing!
THE MEMORIES
What are your favourite memories of your wedding day?
There are just so many, I don’t think I could possibly pick… The whole day from beginning to end was just perfect!
What gave you the biggest laugh?
The speeches were brilliant!
What got the tears flowing?
Again, the speeches….
If there was one piece of advice you could give to a new bride-to-be, what would it be?
Don’t overthink the wedding planning too much.
And last but not least, where is your wedding dress now?
It’s folded into a beautiful box and safely stored away… I don’t think I’ll ever get rid of it!
