#52 Alpacas at Peddler

Our Brides – Georgina

“Don’t sweat the small things, on the day it won’t matter if everything isn’t exactly perfect as you’ll just be enjoying the day and won’t notice. Also, be organised with your pinterest boards!”

THE LOW-DOWN

How would you sum up the style of your wedding?

Relaxed and fun.

Where did you tie the knot?

We had the ceremony at the Chimney House and then the reception at Peddler Warehouse.

And what was your wedding dress?

Charlie Brear Fernley with the Marla overdress and feather short sleeves

THE LEAD UP

How did you two first meet?

We went to school together since the age of 7, didn’t really know one another until we were 14 though!

What about the proposal? When, where, how?

During the first lockdown in 2020, we were sat with a beer watching the sunset over the pond near our house and he very casually slipped it into the conversation.

THE DRESS

Did you have an idea of what you wanted when you first started looking for your wedding dress? And did you stick to it?

Didn’t really know much at all, I just knew I’d not seen anything I liked on the hours and hours of Don’t tell the Bride that I watched during lockdown.

How did you find the whole experience of searching for the right dress?

A little bit awkward and weird at first but I soon settled into it and had lots of fun! Jess was so helpful and had some really great ideas.

What was it about your dress that made it ‘the one’?

It is so fun and different but not silly, also the sleeves are incredible! I’ve always loved a ruffly or puffy sleeve, but these are something else.

How did you feel once you’d made the big decision?

So happy! And totally certain that I’d made the right choice.

Do you have any top tips for other brides out there shopping for their bridal gown?

Keep calm! And be open minded. Also, it was really good to have made a bit of an effort with my hair, nails and makeup (although nothing that could rub onto the dresses!) while trying on, it made it much easier to visualise how it might look and feel on the day.

THE BIG DAY

Tell us more about your outfit on the day. How did you complete your look?

Simple silver jewelry and sparkly shoes – the dress didn’t need much else! Then later on I had some funky pink velvet trainers complete with burgundy ribbon laces to dance and do my best beer ponging in.

And your bridesmaids?

Knowing that all of my bridesmaids were very different shapes and sizes, it was clear that one dress would not work for all of them. We ordered loads in our colour scheme (pink and bergundy) and had a massive dress trying on session where they all picked something different, it was so much fun and they all loved their dresses.

What do you remember about the morning?

I started the day by finishing writing my speech – oops. Then had loads of fun getting ready with everyone, there was so much excitement!

Who did your hair and makeup?

The girls at Salon Sixty did our hair, and they let us get ready in the salon which was so nice! And Victoria at Lipstick and Rouge did our makeup.

Who took your wedding photos?

Danni at Maytree photography.

Did you follow any traditions? Or was there anything unusual about the ceremony?

We didn’t really do traditions, the girls took over the speeches with myself, my bridesmaids and my mum all doing them, also walking out of the wedding ceremony to Star Wars music was a bit unusual.

How did your dress feel when you were walking down the aisle?

I wasn’t really thinking about the dress but it just felt right.

THE MEMORIES

What are your favourite memories of your wedding day?

We had a vintage bus pick up most of the guests for the ceremony, then it came to pick me and the bridesmaids up which was really fun. I also loved the time me and Paddy had alone while we were getting our portraits done, a really nice chance to have a laid back conversation and giggles.

What gave you the biggest laugh?

Either the bridesmaids speech, or the surprise of 2 alpacas waiting for us at Peddler

What got the tears flowing?

I’m not really one to cry but missing a crucial shot at beer pong got me close

ADVICE FOR BRIDES-TO-BE

If there was one piece of advice you could give to a new bride-to-be, what would it be?

Don’t sweat the small things, on the day it won’t matter if everything isn’t exactly perfect as you’ll just be enjoying the day and won’t notice. Also, be organised with your pinterest boards, mine are a right mess.

And last but not least, where is your wedding dress now?

At the dry cleaners- there were a couple of minor spillages towards the end of the night.
